A Wet, But Fun, Weekend In The Sandbox – Dumont Dunes Trip Report

with No Comments

It’s a new year and already time to head back out to my favorite place on Earth, Dumont Dunes! Much of our normal crew could not make it this trip so we had just 5 buggies. As much as I love having a ton of friends and their cars join in on dune trips, I also enjoy chill trips like this with a small group. It gives me more time to really take in the dunes. On this trip, I turned my boost back up. I say back up because I had an engine failure a couple of years ago (due to a jumped timing belt). So I’ve been running less boost for the last season or two to stay on the safe side. So between having more boost and damp sand this trip, the car was running great. Cold, wet sand always feels so much different than when it is warm and dry. The best way to compare it is to snow. Anyways, enough about wet sand. Friday was a ripping good time but Saturday we got rained out. The videos tell the rest of the story. Enjoy!

This first video is from Friday. This was the best weather day we had. We got 2 ripping dune runs in. The first ride I led, then Lou led the second one. It was an awesome day out there!

Saturday we got rained out but on Sunday we took advantage of the dunes right after a rain storm. They are very different!

Do more with less! That is my motto lately. I love getting outdoors and exploring new places, usually on my KTM motorcycle. My wife, Anna, and I recently bought and built out a Sprinter van to do more of the things we love. Traveling and seeing new places is always at the top of our to-do list.
